The Rev Jenny Hills has been recognised for her ongoing community work at this year's Supporter Reception. The reception celebrates volunteers across the University, who are contributing positively to student experience, research initiatives and the wider Nottingham community.
Jenny was recognised for her consistent support in helping to organise and run the School of English' Community Reading Group. Through the group, held at Thomas Helwys Baptist Church in Lenton, students are able to gain valuable experience working with local residents. This has helped to cement our school within the community and strengthen relationships between students and their local neighbours.
"Jenny attends every shared reading session, supports group members and student volunteers, as well as members of the surrounding community and the homeless who are in need of support, advice and guidance (and who often drop in during shared reading sessions for help). She works tirelessly to help others, and has brought joy and comfort into countless people’s lives. I can’t think of a more deserving recipient of the award."
