Today marks a new release in the School of English! Lean Fall Stand is the latest novel from our Writer in Residence and Professor of Creative Writing, Jon McGregor. Lean Fall Stand follows the events of a deadly storm in Antarctica and the consequences for the scientists caught in it. The novel has been called “a beautiful piece of work” (Hilary Mantel), “a genuine masterpiece” (Observer) and “Gripping, moving, magnificent” (Kamila Shamsie). Musician and presenter Jarvis Cocker called the novel “the most gripping piece of writing I’ve read in a long time” and will be celebrating the release in conversation with Jon McGregor at A Night in with Jon McGregor on April 29. The novel is also being serialised on BBC Radio 4 from Monday 3 May 2021, read by Indira Varma.
Jon McGregor is a, Costa Award Winning and three-times Booker Prize longlisted, novelist who is Writer in Residence and a Professor of Creative Writing in the School of English at the University of Nottingham. He is currently the editor of The Letters Page, a literary journal in letters from the University of Nottingham.
