PALA 2023 Awards for our PhD community!

The School of English would like to extend a huge congratulations to Antonia Stoyanova and Marianne Fish for their awards at PALA 2023. Antonia Stoyanova is a graduate of the School of English, completing her PhD in 2023, and Marianna Fish is a PhD student in the School, currently in her second year.

The PALA Prize for the best article published in the journal Language and Literature by a newcomer to the field was awarded to Antonia Stoyanova for her paper 'Sensory modality as a linguistic sign of the "divided self" in John Banville’s novels', Language and Literature, 2023, 32(2): 231-246. 

The Palgrave Prize for the best paper delivered at the conference by a student member of PALA was awarded to Marianne Fish for her paper ‘"There are all sorts of lives": Internal dialogicity within first-person narration in Jean Rhys’s Voyage in the Dark', presented at PALA 2023, hosted by University of Bologna in Bertinoro, Italy.
