When it came to choosing my modules for second year, 'Names and Identities' was the perfect blend, allowing me to use the skills I’d gained from my degree to analyse a corpus and explore the history of an area.
Through my analysis I learnt about Medieval England’s social hierarchy, the jobs people had and the landscape they interacted with. After enjoying the module, it felt only natural to do 'English Place Names' in my third year, which allows greater exploration of what interests you, whether that’s language, history or topography.
