Ideal Ward Round

6. Attendance

Careful consideration needs to be given to who is present at a ward round. It's important that the relevant members of the multidisciplinary team attend so that all of the agenda items raised can be properly addressed, but at the same time, the number of people present is kept to a minimum, in order to reduce the anxiety that a large number of people could produce for the person who's care is being discussed.

Throughout the research and focus groups run by the Ideal Ward Round Team patients often said ‘it was the little things’ that made the difference.

Ultimately, thinking about how the physical environment could impact on a person feeling anxious or intimidated is really important.
