Bob Armstrong (University of Nottingham - Fire Safety Advisor), shares his knowledge and experiences on:
They will sit there and do their dissertation on Facebook, ah, because that's more important. Because this will be a false alarm, won't it? It wasn't 23 times last year!
In Nottinghamshire last year, we had a bad year, we had 7 deaths from fire, mainly domestic, well all domestic. And domestic fires - you're in a property that you are familiar with. You live there, you know! But you might be a smoker, you might be a drug user, you might be a drinker. You just need one mistake and it costs a life, it cost 7 people their lives. There is more than 7 this year in 2016. So we have had an increase in fire deaths which is not good!
Please Note: The fire statistics provided above have been recorded for the County of Nottinghamshire and not just The University of Nottingham.
