So – do you feel you know a bit more about the AHP Report?
Louise
Yes thanks – that’s been really helpful. I’m looking forward to doing one!
Michael
Is there anything else we haven’t covered?
Louise
What should I do if an employer contacts me to discuss an AHP Report?
Michael
We haven’t mentioned consent, and actually that’s really important with AHP Reports. You should share information with your patient, and get written consent from a patient if you share any information with anyone other than the referrer, particularly with an employer or HR department, and record in your notes that you have their consent. Here we advise that if you’re going to communicate with employers that you do it by email so that there’s a written record.
- How can I know what the patient’s job and workplace are like if I haven’t visited it?
- How can I advise on work modifications if the patient doesn’t know if the employer can offer any?
- More about consent and communication
- What if the GP disagrees with me?
- What duration should I put on the AHP Report?
- What if the patient already has an AHP Report from another AHP?
- Can I backdate my AHP Report to cover the days that a patient hasn't been working?
