People may be born dyslexic, or become dyslexic if they experience brain damage. The exact causes of dyslexia are not known, however, it is known that dyslexics process their thoughts differently to non-dyslexic people. About 3% to 10% of the general population is dyslexic, and approximately 2% of UK undergraduate students are dyslexic. The exact number is not known, not everyone knows if they are dyslexic, and some people don’t tell anyone they are dyslexic because they don’t feel any need to, or because they feel ashamed. It is likely that you know someone who is dyslexic.
