Process for the Appointment and Payment of External Examiners
Schools are responsible for providing nominations of external examiners for their undergraduate and taught postgraduate courses on an annual basis. Council has the power to receive nominations and approve such appointments, and discharges its responsibilities in this regard through the Quality and Standards Committee.
Please refer to the Quality Manual for details of the Appointment and Responsibilities of the External Examiners.
How do External Examiners receive their fee?
On completion of the work, the external examiner will provide an annual written report in a standard format. The report should be submitted to the Academic Services Division.
Once the report is received, Quality and Standards notifies the School and confirms the fee amount. Upon confirmation, a pay details form is issued to the external examiner. The external examiner returns the completed pay details form to Quality and Standards who then forward to Payroll for processing.
