Yearbook of the European Torture Convention
The Council of Europe's European Convention for the Prevention of Torture and Inhuman or Degrading Treatment or Punishment is a unique human rights treaty which seeks to prevent human rights violations in places of detention in over 40 European states, by means of prison and other visits by its independent European Committee for the Prevention of torture. The Committee adopts detailed and often critical national reports on its visits, to which states may reply.
HRLC edits the Yearbook of the European Convention for the Prevention of Torture and Inhuman or Degrading Treatment, which is now published by Brill. Volume 1 of the Yearbook covered 1989 to 1992.
