Dr Bagus Muljadi, Director of Indonesia Doctoral Training Partnership (IDTP) and Assistant Professor in Chemical & Environmental Engineering has recently established a unique partnership between the UK and Indonesia.
An Indonesian national, he also sees a key part of his role at the University of Nottingham in bridging the two countries together – an outlook captured in recent interviews with local media, including his recent article published in the Jakarta Post titled ' With its diaspora, Indonesia can be next scientific powerhouse'.
In January 2019, Dr Muljadi attended the National Annual Meeting Day (Rakernas) 2019 organised by the Ministry of Research Technology and Higher Education (RISTEKDIKTI) and was involved in drafting the agenda with one of the Directorate Generals. It was discussed that IDTP in Nottingham will become the country’s training hub in the UK, supporting the Ministry's agenda in capacity building. Previously, Dr Muljadia had led the University's disucssion with RISTEKDIKTI, with both sides a greeing to collaborate to improve Indonesia's research capabibiltiy.
Dr Muljadi is also a keen supporter for public engagement in science and has facilitated a visit from RISTEKDIKTI to Notitngham, to showcase the ' Importance of Science' with Professor Sir Martyn Poliakoff at the Faculty of Science.
