Alumni stories: where are they now?

Ed Charles works on Planet Earth 2

Ed Charles graduated from BSc Zoology at the University of Nottingham and went on to complete his masters in our unique Biological Photography and Imaging course.

From then he has gone on to have a successful career in wildlife documentary making, working for the BBC on series such as Saving Planet Earth and Nature’s Great Events. He’s also worked for Discovery Channel (North America) and Disney Nature (Bears).

His most recent triumph is producing the Deserts episode of Planet Earth 2. You may have seen him in the show, he was the one in the middle of a swarm of several billion locusts. 

Gilles Dubois' South African adventure

Gilles graduated in 2016 and has been working in South Africa on a digital media internship. Based at Ikhala Veterinary Wildlife Services in Grahamstown, Gilles films medical procedues and captures of wild and semi-wild animals. 

Occasionally, he joins his boss on excursions to do procedures on whild rhinos. Ikhala fights for the victims of poaching too and some of Gilles' videos document the work they do
