Lawrence collections elsewhere

There are a number of other collections of Lawrence manuscripts, papers and correspondence held in other repositories and libraries in Britain and abroad, in particular in the United States of America.

Where appropriate an active link is supplied to the relevant institution. This does not necessarily indicate that full details of their Lawrence holdings will be available over the Internet.

 

In Nottinghamshire

  • Nottinghamshire Archives holds a collection of 33 letters of David and Frieda Lawrence, 1913-1933 and correspondence, 1910-1929.
  • There are also important collections of Lawrence's published works, papers and correspondence held by the Nottinghamshire Library Service at the Local Studies Library, Nottingham Central Library and also at Eastwood Library.
  • D H Lawrence - A guide to resources within the County of Nottingham provides links to all the major Lawrence-related resources in the county.

 

Elsewhere in the United Kingdom

  • The British Library holds Lawrence's correspondence with the Society of Authors, 1915-1928 and his letters to S.S. Koteliansky.
  • Birmingham University Library Special Collections holds his letters to F and J Brett Young, 1919-1921.
  • Lawrence's letters to E. M. Forster, 1915-1930 are held at Kings College Modern Archives Centre, Cambridge University.
  • Liverpool University Department of Special Collections and Archives holds 20 letters from Lawrence to Blanche Jennings and 4 manuscripts, 1908-1910.
  • Tate Gallery Archive, Millbank, London SW1P 4RG holds Lawrence letters to Anita Brackenbury, 1915-16.
