Introduction to University of Nottingham Collection

The University of Nottingham archive contains records of the University from its founding in 1948 up to the present day.

The records relate particularly to the early years of the University. Coverage of the last 50 years is less comprehensive. The paper and digital records include administrative files, accounts, correspondence, minutes, photographs and ephemera.

Work is currently in progress on consolidating and cataloguing the University of Nottingham archive, meaning that there are some restrictions upon access to parts of the collection. More information will be added to these pages as catalogues for different sections of the collection are published in the Manuscripts Online Catalogue.

Manuscripts and Special Collections are actively collecting records created by the various departments and services, in conjunction with the University's records retention schedule. We are also seeking to document student and staff life on all of the University's campuses, in order to ensure that the archive is more representative of a diverse range of experiences, and to reflect the University's position as a truly global institution.
