Maths-for-Life is a professional development programme in which groups of teachers work together to develop their pedagogy and knowledge of mathematics. The overriding aim of the programme is to improve students’ GCSE Mathematics re-sit results, whatever their initial grade. The programme will benefit a wide-ranging corpus of teachers and students, including those teaching English to Speakers of Other Languages (ESOL) students and adult learners.
Centred around five lessons that incorporate topics known to be challenging for re-sit students, teachers learn about the five key teaching strategies of dialogic learning.
The design of the resources was based on the research, and guided by the latest Department For Education policy.
