Biography

Dr Aimee Whitton completed a BSc (Hons) in Biology, an MRes in Biological Sciences, and a PhD in Virology & Epidemiology at University of Derby. Whilst undertaking her PhD, she also worked on two additional research trials in collaboration with University Hospitals of Derby and Burton NHS Foundation Trust and NIHR Nottingham Biomedical Research Centre. Subsequently, she worked as a Lecturer in Human Biology & Biomedical Health at University of Derby and following this, a Lecturer in Immunology & Virology at University of Hertfordshire. Dr Whitton is currently a Teaching Associate in Biomedical Science within the School of Medicine at University of Nottingham, teaching on Medical Physiology & Therapeutics and Graduate Entry Medicine. Dr Whitton's research interests include viral disease, immune defence mechanisms and oncogenic viruses in terms of pathogenesis, epidemiology, and risk factors for transmission and cancer progression (in particular, Human Papillomavirus and Merkel Cell Polyomavirus).
