Biography
Dr Rebecca McConnell is a GP working in Long Eaton, Derbyshire. After her first degree - Physiological Science - she worked briefly as a tour guide in Italy, before going into charity work. In 2006, Rebecca decided to go back to school, and undertook the Graduate Entry Medicine degree at the University of Nottingham (Derby Campus). She worked around the East Midlands for Foundation training and completed her GP training on the Derby Scheme, before gaining a GP Fellowship job in Nottingham 2016-17. As part of her Fellowship, she started the MMedSci in Medical Education in 2016. She completed her Masters degree in Medical Education, with distinction, in Summer 2018, while continuing to work clinically as a GP. Rebecca has been an Educational Supervisor for GP Trainees since 2020 on the Nottingham GP Training Scheme and a GP Appraiser in Nottinghamshire since 2019.
Since 2019, Dr McConnell has been leading the optional module "Coaching & Mentoring skills in Supervision" on the Diploma and Masters in Medical Education. She is now also leading on the "Leadership in Medical Education" module and on a staff development programme for undergraduates teachers in clinical partnership organisations.
