Apply for a Nottingham Research Fellowship or an Anne McLaren Fellowship

Calling all aspiring leaders in research and innovation! The School of Medicine is welcoming expressions of interest for the Nottingham Research Fellowships and Anne McLaren Fellowships (NRF/AMF).

Successful applicants will join the School of Medicine’s world-leading transdisciplinary medical research community. Through collaborations with healthcare, industry, and our patient and public partners we respond to today’s challenges to translate our research into interventions that benefit patients, the NHS, and the wider population.

The School of Medicine is inviting early expressions of interest from applicants. We are particularly keen to hear from applicants aligned to our BRC themes, our institutes – the Biodiscovery Institute and the Institute of Mental Health and the new state of art National Rehabilitation Centre.

How to apply

Candidates must have been awarded their PhD or equivalent, such as postgraduate MD/DM for clinical applicants prior to the expression of interest closing date of 6 October 2023. Candidates must also have the support of the School of Medicine before applying so please contact the School well in advance of this deadline.

To discuss your proposal and request support from the School of Medicine, please

  1. Get in touch with us using the School of Medicine Contact Form. The form collects information on any School of Medicine academic sponsor identified, your research outputs, and your research trajectory. This will help us to arrange a discussion, if appropriate, with one of our research leaders to discuss sponsorship of the application.
  2. Once you have School of Medicine support, submit your Expression of Interest application on the University Job portal.

Advice from an Anne McLaren Fellow

Talk to as many people as possible - don’t be scared to approach people and ask for help. Be prepared to take all kinds of feedback on your research, but remember to believe in yourself and your ideas. Above all, focus on what you love and what interests you the most.
