School secures major new funding for industrial partnership

The School of Physics and Astronomy has secured its second Knowledge Transfer Partnership (KTP) project with industrial partner, Photek, who are based in St. Leonards on Sea in East Sussex.  The project, which is valued at £238,828 and funded by the Technology Strategy Board and the Engineering and Physical Sciences Research Council, will involve a KTP Associate working closely with both the company and the School.  Led by Dr. Richard Campion, the project will develop and implement a novel process to manufacture new and improved devices through molecular beam epitaxy (MBE) in collaboration with Photek, who are a specialist manufacturer and global supplier of vacuum based tubes and camera systems for photon detection.
