The School of Physics and Astronomy has again been highlighted for its work in promoting the career progression of female academics and researchers with the renewal of its Athena Swan Silver Award until April 2017. The School was also awarded Juno Champion status by the Institute of Physics in 2014. The Athena Swan Silver Award will be received by Professor Penny Gowland and Dr Elisa Antolin at an Awards Ceremony to be held at Durham University on 10th July. The University of Nottingham’s School of Life Sciences will also receive an Athena Swan Silver Award at this ceremony.
The Athena SWAN Charter is a scheme which recognises and celebrates good employment practice for women working in science, engineering and technology (SET) in higher education and research.
