Degree Apprenticeship annual monitoring consists of three integrated processes designed to facilitate quality assurance and enhancement of degree apprenticeship programmes. Self-Assessment Reports (SAR), Quality Improvement Plans (QIP) and Internal Quality Reviews (IQR) are designed to ensure each process informs the next in a cyclical manner.
All recruiting degree apprenticeship programmes are subject to annual monitoring from the year following the first full year of delivery. Teaching out degree apprenticeship programmes will continue to be subject to annual monitoring until all apprentices have completed the taught element of the programme.
The SAR is designed to:
- Provide an opportunity for reflection on achievements and challenges of the previous year
- Allow self-assessment of programmes in the context of the Ofsted Education Inspection Framework
The QIP is designed to:
- Formalise an action plan, initially informed by the SAR and the achievements and challenges identified through reflection.
- Be informed by Monthly Progress Reviews, KPIs and emerging issues
- Provide a live action plan to capture emerging themes and monitor progress and record outcomes on areas for improvement.
The IQR is designed to:
- Highlight areas of good practice and positive achievements
- Assess progress against the Ofsted Education Inspection Framework or any subsequent version
- Identify areas requiring development can be and discussed and avenues of support
- Ensure oversight of the assurance and enhancement of the education and student experience of degree apprentices
Annual monitoring processes for Degree Apprenticeship programmes, including roles and responsibilities, are detailed in the SAR/QIP and IQR Process Documents.
