Modelling to predict food insecurity
Future Food Beacon researchers are contributing to a timely new project to model individual food purchase and consumption patterns. This work will be based on real-world food provision networks, such as food retailers and social support networks. The data gathered will allow the team to forecast dynamic changes in food insecurity in the UK and the effect of coronavirus on those patterns.
With this insight, we can then assess the efficacy of interventions to reduce food insecurity and attempts to mitigate its effects. Further policy recommendations are likely to flow from this project.
