Conferencing the International

Indian home cities

The Viceroy in India nominated delegates to the Round Table Conference sessions. Efforts were made to secure representation of most provinces, which for only the first conference included the Presidency of Burma. Many of these political and social leaders resided in the primary cities of their regions, notably Bombay, Madras, Calcutta, Allahabad and Lahore, while the Princes resided in their fixed capitals. The more densely populated Gangetic Plains, from north to east India, secured more delegates than the less densely populated south.
