Visitors to our installation at the National Justice Museum in Nottingham are contributing their suggestions for words that they would include in their own LGBTQ+ glossary.

Language changes all the time, and so the words the young people involved in this project have put forward - and the definitions they’ve given them - will be different from those from other generations. Also, people from different parts of the country or world often use different language to describe LGBTQ+ lives.

We want to capture the diverse words used by LGBTQ+ people from many different communities and backgrounds and will archive these contributions on this page after the installation closes in September 2024. If you can’t get to the installation but would still like to contribute, use the following form to suggest a word.
