Vikings in Borrowdale

On the 13th and 14th of September, Nottingham students Emma Vosper, Kate Crossley, Pete Rylands and Phoebe Smith spent the weekend in Borrowdale, in the Lake District, at an event organised by CSVA alumnus John Quanrud and his company Viking Minds. As part of the C-Art festival, John has organised an exhibition of art inspired by Cumbrian Viking designs in the old Bowderstone slate quarry, and a pop-up Viking shop at the Bowderstone itself. The students put on a range of Viking activities for children and families, including reading from Old Norse poetry and the sagas, writing with runes, and making and colouring their own Viking designs. While the students have now returned to Nottingham, in time for the start of term, the festival continues until the 28th of September.
