Courses

• The MSc Human Factors and Ergonomics is a full or part time course that covers all aspects of ergonomics/human factors, and is accredited by the CIEHF
• The MSc in Applied Ergonomics (by distance learning) is also a comprehensive postgraduate course that covers all aspects of ergonomics/human factors. It is particularly suitable for those who are working in areas related to ergonomics and who wish to study at a distance
• The Postgraduate Certificate in Applied Ergonomics (by distance learning) is a shorter, certificate level course which provides an introduction to ergonomics/human factors. It is equivalent to 1/3 of an MSc course, and students who complete the certificate may transfer to the full MSc if they wish.
• The PGCert in Usability and Human Computer Interaction (by distance learning) is a short certificate level course that provides an introduction to human issues in designing and evaluating digital systems and to undertake a project. Students taking this course may also opt to upgrade to the MSc in Applied Ergonomics.
• The MSc Human Computer Interaction is run jointly with the School of Computer Science. This course provides grounding in HCI and ‘hands on’ experience of key approaches for shaping the development of technologies that meet human need, both in the workplace and beyond, as the computer reaches out into everyday life.

All of these courses recruit students from a broad range of backgrounds, including psychology, engineering, computer science, management, health professions, design, arts and social sciences. Careers

Our graduating students are very much in demand with employers. A number of technology-driven companies (eg Jaguar LandRover, BAE Systems, Rolls-Royce, AWE) are in regular contact with staff in the department seeking highly qualified and capable individuals.
