Postgraduate research in the LSRI

Are you interested in joining a vibrant group of masters students, doctoral students, post-doctoral staff, and professors - all enthusiastic about the study of learning and how to improve it? The LSRI could offer you a welcoming environment to pursue your own research on this important topic.
By joining our community as a postgraduate researcher you will enjoy personal supervision from two experienced academic supervisors chosen for their interest in your project. At the same time, you will be working closely among other doctoral students in a shared and well-resourced environment.
Your own work can build upon the established research record of the LSRI and your confidence will be extended through integration into the local and wider communities with which LSRI is affiliated: for instance, the International Society of the Learning Sciences. At least 100 PhD students have successfully completed within the LSRI.
Typical projects of recent doctoral graduates have included work on the following topics:
- Learning through games and play
- Multimodal learning in science and literacy
- Metacognition and self-regulation
- Collaborative learning
- Learning in the wild
- Embodied, socio-cultural and critical perspectives on learning
Please explore the research interests of current LSRI members and see if your own ambitions find a possible match. If you join us we promise a lively, supportive and multi-disciplinary environment for your doctoral study.
