You'll need access to a computer or laptop to join participate in lessons and complete online learning.    

You do not have to buy any textbooks. All recommended reading will be available from the university libraries, including e-books. Course-specific reading lists can be found in your course handbooks, which you'll have access to when you arrive. Some subjects have provided some pre-course reading to prepare you for your studies, however, this is optional.

Pre-course arrival checklist:

Please prioritise completing all the actions below no later than the 25th of September. This will help to make sure everything is place for you to start your course:

  1. Complete your Occupational Health questionnaire (PPQ) sent via email from Optima Health. You do not need to complete this if you are starting a Foundation degree or BSc Health Promotion and Public Health course. You can find more information about fitness to practice and Occupational Health on the Health Sciences website.
  2. Complete the prearrival questionnaire.  This will help us be able to support you on your course.
  3. Order your uniform.
  4. Read the school code of conduct.

Occupational Health and DBS clearance

The following information related to students registered on Nursing BSc, Midwifery BSc, Physiotherapy BSc, Sport Rehabilitation BSc, and Nursing MSc (Graduate Entry Nursing). This does not apply to those who will be starting their Foundation degree or BSc Health Promotion and Public Health

Our Occupational Health provider, Optima Health will have sent you information about completing your pre-course Occupational Health questionnaire (PPQ). Please ensure you have completed this before you start your course, as your place is subject to the Occupational Health clearance. If you have not received their email, please email them to request that the link to your PPQ is resent. 

Students on the above courses are also required to have a Disclosure and Barring Service (DBS) clearance. You will be contacted by the Placements team regarding DBS clearance. However, if you've not received an email, please contact them.
