Below is a list of additional costs that are not included in your tuition fees

Please note that although any prices stated are correct at this time, these are subject to change. There is more detailed information available on the university’s tuition fees webpage.

DBS check

All home UK students registering on the MPharm course are required to undertake a DBS (enhanced) check. See MPharm page for details.

The DBS check is compulsory for all incoming home UK students. You will not be allowed to undertake placements without a completed check.

EU/International students must also provide a police check/certificate of good conduct for which there may be a cost involved. You are advised to check with your local police or home office for further information. Visit MPharm page to find out more.

Travel to/from placements

The cost of any travel to/from MPharm placements is not included in the tuition fee. Therefore, this will be an additional cost you will need to budget for. The majority of placements are local to the university and travel costs will be minimal.

Replacement lab coats/glasses/name badges/lanyards/tunics

We issue all students with a lab coat and safety glasses during lab sessions. If you require replacements, or wish to purchase your own, these cost around £18 for the lab coat, and approximately £5 for a replacement name badge (prices subject to change). If students wish to purchase their own safety glasses these cost around £5. Students on the MPharm are issued with a tunic, the cost to replace is £17.60.

Replacement student ID cards

If your university ID card is lost, stolen, or damaged there is a fee for a replacement. Security may waive the fee for stolen cards if a crime number is supplied, see replacement cards for details.

Vaccinations

Students should read the vaccination requirements on the MPharm page.

Resit examinations (including placements that are part of the professional competencies modules)

Students who are required to undertake re-sit examinations will be charged a flat fee of £80 (undergraduate) and £130 (postgraduate) regardless of the number of reassessments you take, see resit information for details. If you have approved extenuating circumstances from your initial attempt, there will be no charge for a first sit examination.

Resit professional pre-registration placements (5 year MPharm only)

This will be charged at a pro rata rate and will vary depending on the length of the resit. Re-sit fees are reviewed and updated on an annual basis.

Additional transcripts/confirmation of studies

Letters confirming that you are a student are provided by Student Services free of charge. You will be able to access and print your transcript via BlueCastle, or order an official transcript for a small charge. If following graduation, you require additional transcripts or confirmation that you studied at the university then a small charge will be made.

Textbooks

Several copies of each book are held in the library, however, there are often waiting lists for library copies and, because some books will be required extensively as supplementary reading material, you are strongly encouraged to purchase your own copies.
