Employers considering accessing a Degree Apprenticeship at the University of Nottingham are invited to join our annual Degree Apprenticeship Employer Engagement Day for an afternoon dedicated to Degree Apprenticeships.

The event is an excellent opportunity for employers considering using one of our degree apprenticeship programmes to upskill their workforce, whether that be via recruitment to new roles or upskill existing staff members, to explore all things Degree Apprenticeships at the University of Nottingham. You’ll get to meet our teams, find out more about our programmes, network with employers currently accessing our apprenticeships, and attend workshops that will help support you on your workforce development journey.

All attendees are welcome to join our networking lunch and exhibition where you can discover the universitiy's services for businesses, and network with representatives from a range of organisations who already access our degree apprenticeship programmes.

Who is the event for?

The event is open to employers/workforce development professionals, business leaders, and line managers of potential apprentices who would like to find out more about accessing our degree apprenticeship programmes.

Businesses of all sizes develop their staff on our programmes, and we welcome large corporates and SMEs. Please see our eligibility pages to ensure your business/organisation meets the necessary basic criteria for a degree apprenticeship or talk to our Employer Engagement team if you would like to check the event is right for you and your business.

Programme information sessions

During the day we will be running information sessions, where our Employer Engagement team will guide employers through the process of accessing a degree apprenticeship, including how the programmes are structured, available funding and eligibility criteria.  Our Programme Directors will then walk through the content of the programmes and the skills, knowledge, and behaviours employees will develop throughout the apprenticeship.

Information sessions on the day:

  • Data Scientist Degree Apprenticeship (Level 6)
  • Electro-mechanical Degree Apprenticeship (Level 6)

Workshops

Throughout the afternoon we will be running a series of workshops, designed to support you in your workforce development. Confirmed workshops include:

Recruiting Apprentices

Led by Hannah Thompson, one of our Faculty Careers and Employability Consultants, this session will explore the latest data insights on recruiting apprentices to help support you in the successful attraction and retention of the best candidates.

Inclusive Leadership

Explore how to create truly inclusive workplaces where everyone can thrive, with Nottingham University Business School’s Director of EDI, Dr Andri Georgiadou, in this interactive workshop. Beyond being a taster of Nottingham University Business School’s Inclusive Leadership programme. this workshop offers valuable networking opportunities with fellow professionals committed to making meaningful change.

Inclusive Hiring: Breaking Barriers & Building Better Recruitment Strategies

Join Ruth Francis,  Learning and Development Manager at the university’s Institute of Technical Skills and Strategy for a practical and insightful discussion on diversity in recruitment. This workshop will explore common barriers to inclusive hiring, challenge biases in the recruitment process, and provide actionable strategies to improve your recruitment campaigns.

Potential apprentices

Please note that this event had been designed for workforce development professionals, employers and line managers of potential apprentices. We do however recognise that some apprentices will be current employees and will want to attend with their employer to find out more about the programme. We therefore welcome potential apprentices to our information sessions if they are attending with their employer or have an employer that has already engaged with our team.

Unfortunately, this event is not suitable for potential apprentices who do not have an engaged employer.

Important information for everyone

Some of our programmes are in high demand. We therefore do not recommend that interested employers delay conversations with our employer team until the event. Contact our Employer Engagement team and start the conversation today.

The timetable for the whole day is now available to view here: Degree Apprenticeship Employer Engagement Day.

Remote working space and access to WIFI will be provided and a business lunch will be provided for those who book.
