Study abroad

Study abroad at destinations such Australia, France, Italy or even our University of Nottingham Malaysia campus.

UNM Trent Building

Nottingham student

Our Study Abroad Team organise a range of activities to showcase the many different global opportunities available to Nottingham students during the autumn semester. We'll also organise an information presentation for pharmacy students before the Autumn term ends. Both events will assist you in your application as places at the Malaysia Campus are limited.

In your third year, you can complete a research project abroad, during the spring semester.

The project destinations change each year, but could include international or European locations, or the University of Nottingham Malaysia Campus.

Applications are made in your second year of study.

To be eligible to take part, you must achieve a minimum average of 60% in semester one of your second year.

2+2 MPharm degree

The School of Pharmacy at our Malaysia campus offers the MPharm degree as a 2+2 programme, allowing you to spend two years in Malaysia followed by two years in Nottingham.

This programme is fully accredited by the General Pharmaceutical Council of Great Britain. Graduates receive the same UK-accredited degree as students graduating from the four-year Nottingham MPharm degree. This includes qualifying to register as a pharmacist in the UK, after successful completion of the pre-registration training year.

The University of Nottingham Malaysia Campus welcomed its first students to a new 101-acre Campus, based at Semenyih, 30 km from Kuala Lumpur, in 2005. It is the first purpose built campus of a British university outside the UK.

Postgraduate study abroad opportunities

The School of Pharmacy in Malaysia offers a full range of research degree programmes for students who already have an undergraduate qualification. These range from the one-year Masters by Research (MRes) to three and four-year PhD programmes.

We also offer the opportunity for students registered on either campus to spend part of their time at the other campus.

Please be aware that study abroad, compulsory year abroad, optional placements/internships and integrated year in industry opportunities may change at any time for a number of reasons, including curriculum developments, changes to arrangements with partner universities or placement/industry hosts, travel restrictions or other circumstances outside of the university's control. Every effort will be made to update this information as quickly as possible should a change occur.
