UNEVOC Network
The School of Education houses the United Kingdom’s UNEVOC Centre. UNEVOC is a global platform coordinated by UNESCO that promotes Technical and Vocational Education and Training (TVET).
UNEVOC aims to promote increased opportunities for productive work, sustainable livelihoods, personal empowerment and socio-economic development, especially for youth, women and the disadvantaged. Through its innovative projects, capacity-building programmes and collaborative activities with more than 220 UNEVOC Centres around the globe, UNESCO-UNEVOC is working towards ensuring access to quality skills training and development for all.
The UNEVOC Network, is made up of four types of UNEVOC centres:
- national ministries
- national bodies
- training providers
- research institutions like the University of Nottingham
These Centres serve as focal points in the provision of services and platforms for international and regional cooperation in TVET. The Network is instrumental in the production and dissemination of research, case studies, databases, publications, and enables the UNESCO-UNEVOC International Centre to perform its function as a clearing house.
Through the Network, UNEVOC Centres can share knowledge and experiences related to all aspects of TVET, exchange country experiences and discuss issues of common relevance in meetings organised by themselves, by the UNESCO-UNEVOC International Centre or virtually through the UNEVOC Network Portal or the UNEVOC e-Forum.
The current focus of the Nottingham UNEVOC Centre is on supporting UNESCO's work on migration and TVET and bridging the gap between TVET and industry.
