School of Geography

Research Themes

Our research community is organised into four research themes that reflect and shape research strategy across the university's campuses in Nottingham, China and Malaysia.

These themes focus and co-ordinate innovative research activity, encourage collaboration within and beyond the school, foster and incorporate new and younger members of staff, and generate a critical mass of researchers in key areas of research, and provide research leadership.

A number of staff and students have interests in more than one theme; a reflection of the school's commitment to collaborative, interdisciplinary research. A significant amount of innovative work has emerged across the boundaries of research themes, such as work on environmental history and climate change, geographies of music, and decision-support systems in farming.
