MSc Project Partners
We are seeking organisations to partner with us for student projects and placements. We attract high-calibre postgraduate students to our MSc Environmental Leadership and Management who can add benefit to your organisation.
- Build relationships with potential graduate recruits
- Explore environmental issues relevant to your practice
- Gain insights into your organisation's activities
- Benefit from students with specialist skills
Student projects
Our MSc Environmental Leadership and Management is designed to develop environmental leaders with skills to solve real-world problems and generate positive environmental change in diverse organisational contexts.
One of the most important elements of the programme is an independent, applied project undertaken by students over three months in the summer.
These projects should be grounded in environmental practice and require students to utilise their academic knowledge in conjunction with skills in project management, leadership and innovative thinking.
What the projects could entail
Students will be given freedom to direct their project, but structure and guidance may be offered by partner organisations.
Projects could broadly fall under one of the following themes:
- Generating novel insights relating to your environmental practice, through empirical analysis of an environmental issue affecting your organisation
- Developing solutions relating to a specific environmental challenge within a legal, policy or organisational context
- Exploring the dynamics of leadership and management in environmental contexts, through analysis of organisational processes or functions
Expectations of partners
Examples of possible partner contributions include:
- nominating potential project ideas, aligned with activities of your organisation
- providing access to relevant datasets, facilities and stakeholders
- providing desk-space for students to conduct research
- providing a formal ‘placement’ to allow students to experience activities undertaken by the organisation
The School of Geography will be responsible for student supervision, but we would require a representative from your organisation to act as a point of contact throughout the project.
