CRIB - Caregivers' Responsive Infant Feeding Behaviours.

8. Summary

If you have got this far then you are doing great. You can re-look at sections if anything is unclear.

Key messages

Responsive feeding involves recognising signs that baby is hungry. Feeding baby when they show us they are hungry. Recognising signs that baby is full. Stopping feeding when baby shows us they are full.

Responsive feeding can help:
  • babies gain weight steadily rather than too quickly or too much
  • babies trust their own signs for hunger and fullness which can prevent them overfeeding as they get older
  • can also help you and you and your baby develop a close loving relationship.

We hope you now know more about responsive feeding and have had an opportunity to try it with your baby. Keep up this good work.
