Transcript
Shortly after arriving she has become ill, but she does not know if she has the right to go to the doctor or who to ask for information. In hospitals they treat you well, they treat you immediately and with kindness. However, sometimes she does not understand doctors well. They communicate with each other and with strange words, they talk about her, but not with her, which generates anxiety. In addition, they do not know her vision of illness, life and death, so she doesn´t always feel comfortable with their treatments. But how do you tell them what you feel if they don't know your culture and you don't know how to express yourself well in their language?
All this has made her feel alone, without support. Another thing she misses is being able to share his cultural practices. Their rituals and customs have disappeared. She has difficulty finding some gastronomic products that she loved. She could not enjoy those spaces of good living in which culture generates meaning. She wonders how to meet people, where they meet, if there are intercultural meeting spaces where they can share and exchange practices and knowledge. She misses the intimacy around a tea or an invitation at a friend's house.
