Content and Discovery
Our work underpins many library activities and includes selecting and purchasing the library’s digital and print collections, and making them available to users. We are organised into three teams.

Collections
Senior Librarian Collections: Sarah Davies
We work with the academic community and students to select new print and digital resources, to support both teaching and research.
We manage the print collections within libraries and our off-site book stores, using the Collection Policy to inform decision making.
Our team manages the online reading list support service.

Resource Acquisitions

We source and purchase the print and digital material that has been selected or approved be the Collections Team, in collaboration with the academic community. We work with reading lists, individual requests and ongoing subscriptions. We also manage the digitisation of key texts for reading lists.
We manage the licences for electronic resources including journals, databases and ebooks, this includes overseeing trial access and user-selection processes.
We also manage the Alternative Formats Service to provide accessible material for those who cannot use standard texts.
We can provide an ISBN to University authors for departmental publications.
Discovery and Access
Senior Librarian Discovery and Access: Ed Kirkland
We deliver the infrastructure - metadata and systems - which helps people all over the world find and use University of Nottingham resources.
Discovery and Access Metadata catalogue print and electronic materials to make them easy to discover in NUsearch. We add and enhance descriptive information for research outputs (theses, publications, data) deposited in the University repositories.
We support open access by checking that repository materials comply with publisher policies, and offering a mediated deposit service.
