Centre for Doctoral Training in Rehabilitation and Healthcare Research
The Centre, based within the Schools of Medicine, provides postgraduate training for clinicians and other healthcare professionals who are looking to undertake doctoral study into rehabilitation and healthcare.

We deliver tailored training centred on the needs of each individual student so they graduate with the fundamental skills necessary to become leaders in the industry of translational healthcare and rehabilitation.
Our students are able to access training provided by the Researcher Academy, the School of Medicine, the Faculty of Medicine and Health Sciences, the N-Trans programme, and courses offered to other postgraduate students.

Core Training Programme
All students who join the centre will take part in a special programme over two days. The programme uses the examples and experiences of centre members' research programmes to illustrate learning and expose students to a wealth of knowledge and practical experience.
Learning objectives
- To understand the Medical Research Council Framework for evaluating complex interventions
- To appreciate the value of mixed method designs
- To consider factors important in the design of mixed method randomised control trials
- To share practical experience of measuring complex interventions
- To learn how to describe trial interventions
- To recognise the role of health economic evaluation within mixed methods designs
- To appreciate the use of frameworks in evidence synthesis
- To appreciate the importance of implementation
- To gain awareness of implementation research methods

Entry Requirements
2:1 (or equivalent) in subjects such as epidemiology, medicine, science and statistics, or degrees from a profession allied to health.
English Language Requirements
- IELTS 7 (no less than 6.0 in any element)
