Focussed Ion Beam Scanning Electron Microscopy (FIB-SEM) at the nmRC
The nmRC's Richard Cousins and Chris Parmenter were delighted to support some exciting and novel work from collaborators at Nottingham Trent University (NTU). The study from Professor Mohsen Rahmani's group at NTU demonstrated a new optical technology and technique to identify protein changes in relation to disease emergence and progression. The novel setup involves plasmonic nanotweezers using a double-nanohole (DNH) nanostructure for label-free detection of single proteins. This approach allows monitoring of the dynamics of the trapped protein in a physiological solution without destroying it. Read more on this new advancement via this link.
