Examples of research featuring a significant body of work conducted using the Raman spectrometer in the NNNC will be presented at US conferences this summer.
Francesco Tres (Pharmacy) will be presenting his latest research at the upcoming 41st Annual Meeting & Exposition of the Controlled Release Society, Chicago, USA, 13-16 July 2014 (talk entitled: “Real time Raman imaging to understand dissolution performance of amorphous solid dispersions”). His research focusses on probing the chemical and structural changes of drug molecules in polymer matrixes following dissolution and thus the monitor the release profile of the active component. Dr Graham Rance (Chemistry/NNNC) will be reporting his latest research at the upcoming TechConnect World 2014 Symposium, Washington DC, USA, 16-18 June 2014 (talk entitled: “The Effects of Carbon Nanoreactor Diameter and Internal Structure on the Pathways of Catalytic Chemical Transformations”). His research uses Raman spectroscopy to monitor structural changes in carbon nanostructures following chemical functionalisation.
