Congratulations to Professor Morgan Alexander who was featured in an article written by Geoff Giordano and published in Plastics Engineering last month - "Developments in biomaterials broaden medical treatments in and out of the body".
The article explores the quest for more sophisticated, efficient and effective medical therapies which is driving demand for functional biomaterials and highlights some of the high-throughput screening methods and new polymers that are being developed here at the University of Nottingham. The article also details some of the new exciting research being developed to screen polymers for the fight against the SARS CoV-2 virus responsible for the Covid-19 pandemic, in particular, the search for polymers that exhibit superior properties in binding and inactivation of the virus, especially important for finding viricidal materials to make effective PPE (Personal Protective Equipment).
