PhD students win their category at Young Entrepreneurs Scheme 2021 and progress to final

The Young Entrepreneurs Scheme (YES) is an innovative global competition developed to raise awareness among PhD students, postdocs and research staff at UK and international universities how ideas can be commercialised.

The Wellcome Trust antimicrobial resistance DTP cohort 2019-2023 applied to this years event with a hypothetical product aimed at improving treatment for bacterial vaginosis. Through a series of workshops, the Elafina tampon was developed. The team won their stream of the competition, meaning they go through to the overall final in January 2022.
