Informing trial development
in blistering diseases
A series of projects which will help to inform a future clinical trial on blistering diseases
There is a need to conduct more research in bullous pemphigoid and pemphigus vulgaris. However, because the diseases are so uncommon, it is often difficult to identify enough people to take part in large studies.
We need to study a large number of people in order to better understand how many people have bullous pemphigoid, what their current treatment looks like, and whether there are enough people in England to conduct clinical trials of new treatments.
Using routinely collected healthcare records from general practices and hospital stays, we are able to do just that. Access to the anonymised healthcare records for millions of people has allowed us to conduct high-quality research into these under-researched diseases.
