"use conventions in a balance with innovations"
|
|
Designing a web site means designing your site in a way that
will work on various screen settings and browsers without
compromising accessibility for users with disabilities.Design
guidelines vary, but there are some common conventions
and key issues to address. The home page has a special role
in your site and you need to pay it particular attention.
The navigation system (button bar,
navigation links etc.) that allows a user to move around the
site is a key element of your page design. Where on the page
the navigation goes and how to highlight links are key factors
of designing this page element.
All of this is intended to make your content easier to access,
and your writing style will need
to be different for the web than for other media, as experiments
show that people read differently on the web than from paper.
