The skills required of students in all fields of medical and health sciences are complex. From learning how to inject a patient, to understanding complex bioinformatics software. From being able to diagnose disease in animals, to developing clinical practice skills in Nursing. The Visual Learning Lab has been supporting staff in experimenting with new visual technologies to gauge their impact on the teaching and development of these and a whole range of other skills.
The students felt it was a respectful and ethical way of learning with patients and a fantastic "real-life" experience

Dr Richard Hammond talks about the work of colleagues in the School of Veterinary Medicine and Science on the integration of multiple visual technolgoies into teaching and learning settings, including large-scale ceiling visualisers and videoconferencing.
Dr Cathy Gibbons is a Researcher Development Manager from the Graduate School. She worked with postgraduate Nursing researchers to investigate the impact of hand-held technology on how they managed their work.
