Manuscripts and Special Collections receives many requests each year from people wishing to volunteer. We are very grateful for the interest, but unfortunately constraints on staff time and physical space in the Reading Room mean we cannot accept everyone.
If you would like to volunteer, please read the Volunteering Policy and then complete an Application Form, which you can return by email or post to:

We will try to match tasks to your particular skills and interests. In the event we cannot offer you a place, the application form will be kept on file for one year and we will contact you if a suitable position becomes available.
