Interdisciplinary research
We have a long tradition of interdisciplinary research, developed and sustained by our Research Centres, and supported by the University's interdisciplinary research structures, which promote cross-disciplinary collaborations to drive innovation and change.
We lead the University's 'Cultures and Communications' Global Research Theme (GRT) (Moran), co-lead the 'Culture Matters' Interdisciplinary Research Cluster (IRC) (Ní Fhlathúin), and contribute to the transdisciplinary 'Rights Lab' Beacon of Excellence and the 'Creative and Digital' IRC. These structures provide internal funding for interdisciplinary research, and facilitate collaborations on externally-funded projects, providing the mechanisms through which to achieve impact at local, national, and international levels.
We are major contributors to the Faculty's cross-disciplinary Institute for Medieval Research (IMR) and we work collaboratively with Horizon Digital Economy and Schools including Computer Science, Physics, Medicine and Health Sciences, Law, and Pharmacy, bringing new approaches to research in English.
