Grounds
The Landscape & Grounds Team are responsible for gardening, tree care, litter, and in winter, road gritting and snow clearance. The university is justly proud of its outstanding campuses and outdoor sports facilities with much care and attention going into the maintenance of these areas.
We care for University Park, along with Sutton Bonington, Jubilee and King's Meadow Campus grounds as well as our two sports grounds at Highfields and Riverside Sports Complex. In addition to routine maintenance each year, there is also a programme of landscape improvements and refurbishment as well as the landscaping of all new developments.
The university has won several awards for its landscaping, including a British Association of Landscape Industries Award, a Civic Trust Award, Britain in Bloom Public Park Award, and several awards from the local Nottingham in Bloom Competition. We have achieved a Green Flag Award for University Park every year from 2003 and we remain the only university to have achieved this status.
In 2004 the university established a Friends of University Park group to encourage the local community to visit University Park and to enjoy its gardens and grounds. A programme of events and activities linked to the park are organised each year. Our Friends of University Park mini site has more detail.
