RLO: Why do we need confidentiality?
Scenario
We illustrate the need for confidentiality with the following scenario:
Ms X lives with her two children (aged 3 and 6) in a small market town. Ms X is to have an oophorectomy (removal of ovaries) and arrangements need to be made for the care of her children whilst she is in hospital and convalescing.
Arrangements for the care of the children are being discussed at a case conference by Ms X, and the family's GP, social worker, and health visitor. The elder child's school will be informed of the final arrangements.
