The social worker has concerns about Ms X, her long-term health and the care arrangements for the children. He is unsure if it is appropriate to discuss the following information:
During a recent home visit Ms X told the social worker that she was very worried about her future health and the care of her children. Ms X then revealed that she had attended appointments at the local genetics clinic and had discovered that she had a hereditary form of cancer. Her mother had a mastectomy at 36 years of age then died 4 years later of breast cancer.
Would it be appropriate for the social worker to raise this issue at the case conference?
